Scholars Night Out
Don't go home to that empty apartment! Instead come to the VSA Scholars Night Out and meet other scholars from around the world.  We have dinner together as a big family and then have some great conversations on the deeper issues in life that we all face.  Its fun and most scholars call this their home-away-from-home.

At the end of the evening we have several drivers that give rides home.

We get together each Wednesday from 6-8pm
Come to our home, Gary and Charlene at 5011 19th Ave NE. (2 blocks N of campus)
See you soon.

Ten Timeless Principles

Defined – “A timeless principle” is always true, for all cultures, for all time, and applies to individuals, communities and countries. It cannot be violated without causing harm.

Early American Law and Current Culture

E-mail Print PDF
To understand American culture today one must take a look at how Early American Law came about,  as it impacts every aspect of American life today.  I lead a  weekly discussion on Early American Law/culture and it's impact on America.  Our culture has a much to offer, and by understanding its foundation you will be better able to take valuable principles home and apply them to your unique situation.
This is an open group and scholars from all disciplines are welcome to come.  You do not need to know anything about law to be part of the group.

We meet each Thursday from 3:30-4:30 at the UW William Gates Law school cafe.

Leadership Seminar

E-mail Print PDF
What a scholar faces each day!  You manage projects, deadlines, administrators and teams…or do you?  Wouldn’t it be great to learn what it is you really need to be managing in order to truly enhance your effectiveness?  When these things make you feel tired, upset or overwhelmed, it could be because you are missing the insights and tools to help you.  We are offering to change that for you! But, first you’ve got to show up!

The VSA is offering a leadership program unlike other leadership programs. This program is a must see.  Those who have been to this workshop, have said:
“I was in the workshop for two hours and knew I was getting material I would use the rest of my life.  That was several years ago and I am still using what I gained every day.”  -  Mark Warner, Director, Microsoft Studios

“The ActionPointe presentation was one of the most impressive programs I’ve ever participated in – the information had tremendous impact”  - Dan Mundle, EVP, Unimark Construction Group
This seminar will cover:
  • How to create an environment that allows innovation to occur
  • How to make your knowledge more powerful
  • How to cultivate and enhance your influence
  • What there really is to manage

This program will give you insights and tools that you can use right away!
This seminar is taught by ACTIONPOINTE to Fortune 500 companies all over the world. Their past and present clients include firms such as Microsoft, Spiegel Brands, VF Corporation, Boeing, and Nordstrom, to name a few.

The course cost is $1500.  However, the VSA has made a special arrangement for it to be offered to Scholars at the UW for free.  The seating is limited because we want those participants to have the maximum amount of personal interaction with the instructor.
